ChatGPT is a Cappellan: Inner Sphere at War and Warships

But really, the rules for building warships in Inner Sphere At War are nonsense.  The rules state that warships take a number of turns equal to its resource point value.  However, on the same page, it says that the resource points necessary to build a warship is equal to its Alpha Strike point value.

An extreme example is illustrative.  The Leviathan III has an Alpha Strike point value of 2,522.  That's 2,522 turns to build one.  Each turn is a month in-game, so 210 years.  That's longer than the clans have existed!  Warship construction times have not been errataed so that's the rule on the books.

But it can't be right.  So here is my proposed fix for anyone looking to include viable warship rules in an ISaW game.  Use the Abstract Combat System point value instead of the Alpha Strike point value.  To calculate this, divide the Alpha Strike point value by 6.  So the Leviathan III would have an ACS PV of 420.  With each turn taking a month, that would mean it took 35 years to construct.

And while that seems like a long time, this roughly coincides with what sarna says about the Leviathan III's construction.  The Ghost Bears and Snow Ravens completed construction in 3150, after starting it at an unknown date in the 3130s.  That still doesn't exactly match, but fits much more closely with actual dates we have in the setting.
